Last weekend, the Orange County Turkish American Association (OCTAA) and the Orange County Turkish School (OCTS) organized and hosted a fantastic event in Irvine, CA. The event was held on April 22nd, which is National Sovereignty and Children's Day in Turkey. It was an opportunity for the Turkish-American community to come together and celebrate this important day.
Dear fellow Turkish-Americans,
We regret to tell you that a tragic natural disaster hit our home country. Unfortunately, a powerful earthquake has struck our home country, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. In the face of this disaster, it is our duty to come together and support those in need.
As a non-profit organization dedicated to serving Turkish-Americans in Orange County, we are making an urgent appeal for donations to help those affected by this tragedy. Your contributions will go directly to organizations on the ground providing vital aid to those who have lost their homes, loved ones, and everything they hold dear.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of 23 Nisan National Sovereignty and Children's Day. Due to pandemic Covid-19 spread all over the world including Southern California communities, this year OCTAA and OCTS have decided to celebrate the 23 Nisan National Sovereignty and Children's Day via online shows, videos and performances that were put together by Orange County Turkish School (OCTS) with help of Aydin Tuna Palabiyikoglu. This year, 23 Nisan National Sovereignty and Children's Day has been recognized by two cities (Irvine and Yorba Linda) in Orange County by declaring proclamation letters. In this regard, we as OCTAA, would like to extend our warm wishes and gratitude to these cities and their elected officials which supports the National Sovereignty and Children's Day.
