Dive into archaeology. Join us as Dr. Ufuk Kocabaş takes us on a journey to the excavation site of Yenikapi to explore the oldest skeletons ever found in what is now Turkey.
Here a tunnel is being constructed under the Marmara Sea to create Instanbul’s most important transportation hub.
In addition to the 8,500 year-old skeletons, the project has uncovered 36 shipwrecks, including Byzantine galleys – the first ever found – part of a breakwater that that protected the city’s first harbor, and more than 40,000 artifacts, including wine and olive oil amphorae, and many decorative and every day items.For registration (On-line only):
