Open Nominations/Elections for Board of Directors & Executive Committee
General Assembly Meeting
OCTAA is proud to announce the fourth General Assembly meeting to be held on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center located at 9 Truman Irvine, CA 92620. At this meeting, we must elect two (2) members for the Board of Directors. The positions will be for two-year terms as described in our Constitution & Bylaws. All members are invited to participate and vote in person at the General Assembly Meeting during OCTAA’s Seker Bayrami event. Members may cast votes and speak to nominees from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Election results will be announced later during the event.
Open Nominations for TWO (2) Board of Directors
Effective immediately, OCTAA is looking for nominations for two (2) Board of Directors positions that will serve during the 2008-2010 term. The elected Board members will be responsible for the overall policy and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the President, executive officers, and subcommittees. The nominees must be members in good standing (i.e., paid membership through 2008) and Orange County residents. For additional information regarding the duties of the Board of Directors, please refer to the Constitution & Bylaws (click here for the Constitution & Bylaws).
Please identify candidates who are interested in serving on the Board of Directors or nominate your self. Please send an e-mail to info@octaa.org by Friday, October 5, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. with the following information:
§ Name of Nominee/Candidate;
§ Name of Nominator;
§ “Statement of Interest” indicating why he/she is interested in serving on the Board of Directors; and
§ Photograph in .jpg, .bmp, .gif, or .pdf format.
The Election Committee (John Gulsen (chair), Cenk Acar, Rasim Oztekin, Ahmet Atahan, and Michelle Deniz Drousé) will then post the candidates photos and their statements of interest on the OCTAA’s website (www.octaa.org) and forward them to the members list via e-mail prior to the General Assembly meeting. The candidate’s information will also be available as hard copies at the event.
General Assembly Election Details
The General Assembly meeting is open to all of the members of the Organization. However, in order to cast your votes, you must be a member in good standing (i.e., paid member through 2008) with OCTAA and a resident of Orange County. In the event that there is an insufficient number of candidates form Orange County, we will be accepting candidates from other counties (with current Board of Directors approval).
Following the election, the ballots will be counted and results will be announced by one of the Election Committee members. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can send a written voter proxy with one of the members in good standing (click here to download a voter proxy).
Executive Committee Elections
After the new Board Directors are elected, the Board will elect qualified individuals to serve the following positions on the Executive Committee: (1) President, (2) Vice President, (3) Executive Secretary, (4) Treasurer, (5) Membership Chair, and (6) Social Events Chair. These individuals will serve one-year terms during 2008. If you are interested in serving on the Executive Committee, please email a “Statement of Interest” to info@octaa.org. You will be notified of the date of the Executive Committee elections to be held during a Board of Directors meeting before the end of the year.
